Dear James,

I couldn't agree more. As a college and high school teacher, it is clear that kids face greater distractions that impede their learning ability. This is as prevalent in the university system as it is in the secondary schools. I have found that "chill" music played just loud enough so that students have to strain to hear it helps greatly. Students straining to hear the music somehow tend to focus on the learning and produce good work. Although I don't understand this phenomenon, I know it works. Hope this suggestion helps your readers.

Dear Stressfreekids,

Thank you for your kind comments. It is a parent's responsibility to promote balance in their children's lives. Creative involvement along with moments of silence, spiritual nurturing and character development are necessary for the growth and well-being of our kids and the future of our society. Be well and best wishes! james

I hope every parent in the world reads your article. So many parents have confused "being busy with being happy." Take a moment to look at your children. Do they seem happy or exhausted? Society has forgotten the importance of creativity. Encourage your children to take nothing and fill it with something. My kids never got in trouble for making a mess by being creative. What a great day to find out my garage was transformed into the North Pole and the elves were relaxing!

Dear James,

As an educational consultant who works with parents and children, I was fascinated by your approach in addressing stress and anxiety. Our children and parents need to find a healthy balance between relaxation and involvement. Too many children that I deal with are obsessed with electronic gadgets and it affects their well-being. You and Lori Lite of “Stress Free Kids” are on the right track. Keep up the good work! Andrea E. Freed, ED.D.
